2026 Spring Rec Baseball

2026 Spring Rec Baseball registration is now open! Any questions regarding BCYA baseball can be sent to [email protected].

Please visit bcyasports.org to register.
BCYA will be participating in the Mid-State Youth Baseball League (MSYBL) again this year. Other participating communities are Amanda Clearcreek, Baltimore, Berne Union, Canal Winchester, Fairfield Union, Lancaster (LYBA), Fisher Catholic, and Millersport. T-Ball and Pony League will follow an adjusted schedule; more information below. Please note that players must reside in the Bloom Carroll School District to be eligible for BCYA Sports unless receive an exemption from the BCYA Board.

Coach Pitch will have 8u and 7u teams , Minors is 10u and Majors is 12.

If you are interested in being a sponsor and having a banner at Roller Field, please email [email protected]. The sponsorship options are Purple and Gold. Purple is $250 and gets you the field banner. Gold is $350 and includes the banner as well as a special thank you on our social media page.

Recreation baseball will follow the same equipment regulations as last year. Bats must be USA Baseball stamped and barrels can be 2 5/8” or less. No 2 3/4” bats or any USSSA bats will be permitted for MSYBL play (Pony & travel have different bat rules). Your registration cost will include a jersey and hat. Catchers equipment, batting helmets, and other baseball gear will be provided by BCYA. Participants will need a glove, baseball pants (check with coach for color) and cleats. BCYA will have a 20% off Dicks Sporting Goods weekend in March. Dates TBD.

Parents can expect 1-2 practices a week until games begin at which time you will typically play 2 games a week and only practice at the coaches discretion based on field availability.

Our goal is to create teams that are evenly split to create competitive balance amongst our teams. In effort to accomplish this, we will be selecting teams in a player draft format. BCYA will do its best to honor special requests . If a player is moving up a division, they will automatically be entered into the player draft. We will not honor other coach or teammate requests. If you’d like to add a comment to your registration indicating a preference, that information will be available to coaches for consideration during the draft. Evaluations may take place before the draft if needed.

T-Ball
This season, we will offer two T-Ball options. Instructional T-Ball Clinic and Modified T-Ball.

Instructional T-Ball Clinic will be for four year olds. Four year olds will not be permitted in the Modified T-Ball Division. The Instructional T-Ball Clinic will take place on Sunday afternoons from April 13-June 8 (no May 26 ). Players will receive a jersey and hat. Players will be taught basic fundamentals and will incorporate game play at the end of practices. Please note that this will only be with other BC participants. They will not have formal games or compete against other communities, but rather break into different teams each week and scrimmage for a portion of the practice time. Players only need a glove and cleats are optional. All players will hit directly off of the tee each at bat.

Modified T-Ball will continue for 5-6 year olds in which players receive 3 pitches before hitting off a tee. Coaches have discretion on pitching over hand, underhand, etc. but recommend the pitching distance of around 20'. We have received good feedback on this format, and would like to continue to develop young players through this model until players are ready to move up to coach pitch. Coach Pitch age is 7-8 years old in most communities. We have allowed 6 year olds to “play up” in the past without evaluation and have seen some players handle the transition well, but also players struggle to develop because their teammates are further along in their understanding of the game and physical abilities simply due to age. Coach pitch plays with a hard baseball, while tee ball plays with a safety tee-ball. Our goal is to put players in the best position to develop at the correct level and also participate safely. If you have a six year old that you want to sign-up for T-Ball, you can register for T-Ball and no player evaluation will be needed.

6 Year Olds
Six year olds wanting to register for Coach Pitch must have played one season of T-Ball. They must also demonstrate the ability to protect themselves from baseballs thrown/hit to them, ability to swing at pitches from a coach pitch distance (35'), and demonstrate a general understanding of gameplay to be considered to "move up" to coach pitch at a player evaluation. This is not to say they have to catch every ball or hit every pitch to move up. Evaluators will be looking to see if a child will be safe while playing with/against older 8 year olds. If trying to make the decision between T-Ball and Coach Pitch, consider how your young player will react to "striking out." In T-Ball, if the player doesn't hit one of the 3 pitches, they'll still hit off the tee and run bases. In Coach Pitch, the player has up to 7 pitches to put the ball in play. If they swing and miss at 3 pitches, they are out and return the the dugout. Please consider this when making your selection.

Pony
We will offer Pony League level baseball again in 2026 for 13-15 year old players as long as there are enough registrations. This age level will play in a pony league that follows a different schedule and participates with additional communities. Please note that Pony level baseball is not meant for an introductory player - players registering for Pony should have some baseball experience and is not recommended for someone who hasn't played at least one season of baseball previously. Players not participating on school teams can practice prior to school season ending. No travel players are permitted, and if on a school team, that season must end before they can participate. All players must conform to the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS)bat standards including a length to weight ratio no greater than negative three (-3) ounces. These bats must be permanently stamped with the BBCOR.50 Certified Mark or made of wood and manufactured by a licensed USSSA manufacturer. The Pony League will begin practicing approximately May 12, and the regular season will begin approximately May 22.

Sponsorships

BCYA is a non profit youth sports association. We rely upon sponsorships to assist with many things for example, field work, grass cutting, field equipment, gym space, sports and safety equipment. Our registrations cover much of what is needed but is not always enough to keep up with our leased facilities. We thank you for your interest in sponsoring. We would not be able to do what we do without people or organizations like yours.
